William Trotter Teapoy

A Scottish Regency faded rosewood teapoy attributed to William Trotter, Edinburgh, circa 1820, the sarcophagus box section inset with scagliola faux marble panels to the top and all four sides, fitted interior, on a pedestal base with ebonised mounts, and sabre legs to brass caps and castors.

William Trotter (1772-1833) was one of Scotland’s best cabinet makers, trading circa 1805-1833 in Princes Street, Edinburgh. His signature on this unusual piece is evident in the quality of timber, and design, with trademark detailing.
