Collector’s Cabinet

£2,500

A cedar collector’s cabinet, English, circa 1850, the glazed upper display section with a hinged top, the cupboard base section with Indian style shaped and pierced panels.

This unusual and rare, if not unique cabinet appears to have made to house prized Indian objects presumably of a textile nature, hence the exclusive use of cedar (well known for its property as a moth repellent) in literally every part of its construction (back boards, feet, mouldings, literally every part). It was clearly design-made by a high level cabinetmaker.
