Pembroke Table

£1,950

An oval mahogany Pembroke table, circa 1770, possibly by Henry Hill of Marlborough, certainly by a high end provincial maker, unusually designed without a drawer presumably for a specific interior scheme, in completely untouched condition with a very good colour and surface patination.

Henry Hill was active as a cabinet-maker, coach-maker and auctioneer in Marlborough from around 1740 until his death in 1778.

A Pembroke table of more sophisticated design and execution, but with similarly idiosyncratic design of legs and feet, and firmly attributed to Henry Hill was sold Christie’s London 8th June 2021.

Understated, Pure, Elegant; one of the most untouched pieces of furniture I have owned.
