A rare large Chinese blue & white porcelain wine cistern, circa 1780, of English Queen Anne silver shape.
Provenance: Private Collection, Staffordshire, UK
This wine cistern, made for the export market and to appeal to European taste, was an ambitious undertaking and is a rare survivor. It is surprisingly heavy, weighing in at 10kg.
A similar wine cistern 54cm wide sold Sotheby’s New York 19th October 2022 $16,380.
