Pair of Decalcomania Vases
£2,650
A pair of Decalcomania glass vases, circa 1860, with later tin liners.
Decalcomania on glass was introduced in the 18th century as a transfer printing and decorative technique, where printed engravings or motifs were applied to the interior of glass vases and then finished and hand coloured.
This pair of vases are a rare survivor, both as a pair of good size and the glass in undamaged condition with the majority of remaining decoration.
