Possibly American School, circa 1850
Apparently idealistic watercolour portrait of Anthony Evans, on a dark bay horse in a landscape, unsigned, inscribed in ink on a paper label verso ‘Portrait of Anthony Evans. (as he would very much like to appear) 1850’, pen, ink and watercolour.
The sitter may be Anthony Walton White Evans (1817-1886) a prominent American civil engineer.
